Maybe Readers Digest will pay me $50 for this junk.
The other day I was talking to some inebriated crank about writing. Perhaps it’s the least of my problems, but specifically I was lamenting my inability to write a metaphor. “I don’t think I’ve ever even written one,” I moaned, “they’re important, ya know. Metaphors are the calling card of a writer.” Unaware of my well timed loss of metaphorical virginity, the IC was quick to point out my bumbling brilliance.
Moving on. I’ve got a good thing going with Shut-in. We help each other with home repairs. He comes over to help me with my house. Then I go over to help him with my house.
Good Lord. This reads like some Readers Digest drivel. I quit.

i love your short posts. They always make me laugh.
ever since i started using the follow mechanism on blogger, i fail to check in w/ you. you are the only blog i can’t get input into my reader. i have no clue as to why!

Of course I did! A lot of what she pointed out IS funny. It’s just her approach and attitude about things that irks me mad.

naw it’s not reader’s digest drivel. the abbreviation IC was like p.g. wodehouse. sorry if you hate him or something. just write your dang book already.

wodehouse? you stealing books from grandpa again? a young man such as yourself should be challenging his brain a little more. whatever you do, don’t read more than one wodehouse…it’s the same story over and over.

i’m horrible at reading things, i never pick a book up more than twice. i think wodehouse authorized a compilation called “The Most of P.G. Wodehouse”

They do a great job with Wodehouse stories on theclassictales.com

that song was very special. thank you for sending it to me. i’ve been reflecting on it a great deal this morning, and will probably blog about it soon, if that’s OK. the lines i liked best were the parts about softening the heart and not allowing anything to come between. i do that – tragedies wreak havoc on my prayer life – like senseless deaths of children, etc.
I was able to get you into my google reader and then the follow mechanism on blogger now. i’m sure that impacted your readership since many on the blogger format use that function now. i’m glad it’s resolved.
