Got back from vacation last night.  Took Zach to see my sister and her family in TN.  Elise and Asia went to Texas to see her parents.  For Zach:  nonstop swimming, jumping on the trampoline, messing with the dogs, feeding the horses, playing with Justin and Christian – two of his “closest” cousins.  Dang, was Zach ever a happy boy!

Went to my sister’s church on Saturday night.  It’s a “Vineyard” church.  Don’t know much about them except that we sing a lot of their songs at my church.  They’re a start-up (2 yrs. old), like ours (1 yrs. old).  The pastor and worship leader were both mid-20’s.  Awesome!  The message was profound, and the worship leader was sincere.

On the drive to and from TN, I tried to listen to the whole Beck discography.  Way too much work.  Aside from a handful of good songs, I concluded that his bloated body of work sucks, and has been propped up by pure hype.  He’s clever, but so what?  It’s not that hard to be clever.  Another dope everyone but me loves is Bob Dylan.  He bores me.  Other than 3 songs from “time out of mind”, nothing I’ve heard justifies his super-hero status.

I leave you with Ike Reilly.  He’s been described as out-Becking Beck, and having Dylan-like lyrics.  Whatever.  He blows those nerds away.  Also enjoy a Dylan remix in Italian.
